Adult Spelling Bee!

The Jefferson Parish Library will hold its annual Spelling Bee for Adults on Thursday, June 19, 7 pm, at the East Bank Regional Library (4747 W. Napoleon Ave. in Metairie).

Adults 18 years of age and older may participate in the Spelling Bee. The event is free of charge and is open to the public. Registration is not required. Participants should simply come to the event on that day and register prior to 7 pm.

The purpose of the Adult Spelling Bee is to promote good spelling and good spelling habits, expand vocabulary and encourage accurate word usage and pronunciation.

The Jefferson Parish Library’s Adult Spelling Bee is a contest in which individual competitors are eliminated as they fail to spell a given word correctly. The library’s first adult spelling bee, held in August 2013 at the East Bank Regional Library, featured almost 20 competitors and has grown steadily since. Prizes are gift certificates to the Friends of Jefferson Public Library Big Book Sale in the fall of 2025.
