See the Calke Abbey parkland and trees from a new perspective and support your sense of wellbeing.
This seasonal Forest Bathing walk offers you a valuable opportunity to de-stress, slow down and tune your senses into the wider natural world at different points through the year.
What to expect
The walks only cover a short distance at a slow pace but will be away from surfaced paths.
After a brief introduction, you will be invited to leave the every day behind and tune into your senses. Most of the walk will be spent in silence as a series of invitations prompt you into a deeper engagement with the natural world; time flows between your own personal experience and opportunities for group sharing before finishing with a wild tea ceremony.
You can expect to leave feeling calmer, lighter and more relaxed than when you arrived.
Starting from the main Car Park, the walk itself will last around 1.5 and will cover up to 1.5 miles within a limited area; as there will be a short walk from the car park to our starting point allow a little extra time when planning your visit.
Please note - this is not a traditional guided or nature identification walk, or a social ramble, but a chance to be more present in the moment and leave behind some of the buy-ness of life.
Unfortunately this walk is not suitable for dogs (other than vested assistance dogs).
We will be away from surfaced paths, with some inclines and long grass or narrow paths. Please be prepared for the weather and conditions underfoot by having suitable clothing and footwear - as we will be moving slowly you may need more layers than you expect.
The walk will go ahead in all weathers unless it is unsafe to do so.
£20 pp including admission to the park and gardens so why not stay for the day? (An extra charge is payable if you wish to visit the house.)
