Join Golden Eagle Audubon for a special Petroglyphs and Passerines tour of Celebration Park, Idaho's only archaeological park, and the historic Swan Falls Dam.
We will start our trip at the Celebration Park Visitors Center, and bird along the Snake river from 9-10a.
Our guided petroglyphs tour starts at 10am at the Visitor’s Center, where we will learn about the geologic history of the Snake River Canyon how petroglyphs are created, and about the Native American cultures that created them, while finding birds along the way! We’ll also be on the lookout for the Golden Eagles that are currently nesting in this area.
You are welcome to head home following the petroglyphs and Golden Eagle tour, or you can join us for part two of our trip as we head towards Swan Falls Dam.
We’ll make a quick stop at the Sagebrush Sparrow site to look for birds before dropping down into the canyon and exploring the Swan Falls dam area along the Snake River. Here we can hope to see a variety of waterfowl, Osprey, Turkey Vultures, Bushtits, Canyon and Bewick’s Wrens.
We aim to wrap up at the Swan Falls area at 1pm. There are picnic tables available and a gorgeous view if you’d like to pack a lunch to eat when we’re done. Since this is a longer trip, please bring water, snacks, and anything you need to be comfortable! The Swan Falls Museum is open until 4 if you’d like to visit for a free self-guided tour.
