MANCHESTER, NH – On Thursday, June 19th, 2025, Slam Free Or Die - Poetry Open Mic & Slam continues its popular open mic poetry series at Stark Brewing Company. This week, there will be an open mic followed by a special TRIPLE FEATURE to celebrate Juneteenth!! The features will be Amanda Shea, Golden, and Brynna Boyd!! About the Features:
Amanda Shea is the 2022 Boston Music Awards Spoken Word Artist of the Year. Shea is an artist, performer, educator, artivist, co-founder, publicist, host, and curator. She has hosted and produced numerous intergenerational poetry/hip hop events as well as performed at festivals; including Boston Calling, BAMSFest (Boston Art & Music Soul Festival), and the Jos Literary Festival in Nigeria. Her work can be found in the Museum of Fine Arts, The Boston Globe, TEDX, TEDXRoxbury, Netflix, Prime Video, BBC News, and much more. Shea will be releasing her first book, “Pieces of Shea” and her first EP titled, "God, Again" in the Fall of 2023. Amanda's work examines her personal life experiences, social justice issues, and healing through trauma utilizing art as the tool.
Golden (they/them) is a Black gender-nonconforming photographer, author, & educator raised in Hampton, VA (Kikotan land), currently residing in Boston, Massachusetts (Massachusett people & Wampanoag land). They are the author of A Dead Name That Learned How to Live (2022), a Lambda Literary Award Finalist for Transgender Poetry (2023), and Reprise (2025). Their photographic series On Learning How to Live, an Arnold Newman Prize Finalist (2021), documents Black trans life at the intersections of surviving & living in the United States.

Brynna Boyd (she/her) is an emerging writer from Texas. She has always had a love for writing and has found community through sharing her work at slams, open mics, and local writing groups. She is the 2024 Boston Poetry Slam Champion and was on the winning team for the Northbeast regional slam. Brynna teaches middle school and finds great joy in helping students explore their creative power. Her writing is informed by her lived experiences, readings, musings of better worlds, and the everyday. About Slam Free Or Die - Poetry Open Mic & Slam:
Slam Free Or Die @ Stark Brewing Company is a series of open mic nights for poets and spoken-word artists every Thursday night in Manchester, NH. There is an open mic every night and poetry slams are also held several times a month. Doors open and sign-ups begin at 7pm with open mic beginning at 8pm.
