About the event

Growing Urban Agriculture: Strategies to Access Farm Land in LA
Learn how LA urban farmers access land & grow food sovereignty. Hear their stories & strategies in an inspiring panel discussion!

About this Event

Access to viable growing lands remains one of the most significant barriers to urban agriculture in Los Angeles. Yet, in spite of this challenge, a growing number of urban farmers have successfully established themselves, each finding a creative, resourceful, and sometimes unconventional way to secure land in one of the country’s most competitive real estate markets.

Join us for a dynamic panel discussion featuring experienced urban farmers, community organizers, and land access advocates who have navigated these challenges firsthand. From forming key relationships with local governments to leveraging policy tools, our panelists will share their journeys and hard-earned insights from their fight to support urban farming.

What you’ll learn:

  • Real stories from growers who’ve successfully accessed land in Los Angeles
  • A range of land access strategies, including public-private partnerships, community land trusts, land tenure agreements, and more
  • Tools and advice for aspiring and current urban farmers looking to secure space to grow
  • A facilitated community conversation around collective strategies to increase land access and food sovereignty in our neighborhoods

Whether you’re an aspiring grower, seasoned farmer, policy advocate, or simply curious about how land is acquired and utilized in urban food systems, this event will offer inspiration, guidance, and a space to connect with others who share a passion for cultivating a community-rooted food system.
