A History of Chochenyo: A Language Reawakened

Los Altos History Museum will host a program exploring the revival of the Chochenyo language, the ancestral tongue of the Muwekma Ohlone people of the San Francisco Bay Area.

Guest speaker Bernadette Quiroz, Language Revitalization Chair for the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe, will share her personal connection to Chochenyo, the efforts to rebuild fluency within the Tribal community, and the importance of language in preserving cultural identity.

Attendees will gain a deeper appreciation for the Chochenyo language, the Muwekma people, and the resilience behind this reawakening.
