***** Walk Restrictions *****
No dogs, as we will be going inside campus buildings, and no hiking poles as they do not mix with groups on sometimes narrow stairways.

Every Tuesday we walk the stairs of Cal State Long Beach!
This 5:30PM start time version of the 2025 loop is 5.2 miles in distance and traverses 81 stairways, and has over 1,400 feet of total climb. Most of that elevation gain is on the the 49 stairways climbed, totaling 2,606 stairway up-steps. The route also has 1,946 down steps. Of course you can climb less, depending on how many you want to climb/skip, and has a number of water and restroom stops. The majority of the 81 stairways, have less than 100 steps, and it is easy to skip stairways and stay with the group in case you need extra rest! The route is a large counterclockwise loop entirely on the university campus, visiting many school departments, a large number of campus artworks by internationally renowned artists, while climbing and descending stairs outdoors, in buildings, parking structures, and the student union!
Depending on the strength and speed of the group, we sometimes add the big 168 step climb to the top of the McIntosh Humanities Building at the top (South) end of the campus.
We start at the SW corner of Palo Verde Ave and Atherton St, by the 7-Eleven, and end there as well. Please look at the map for the blue colored parking locations in the area, and do not park in the red locations, or you will be ticketed and/or towed! Also note that the parking at the 7-Eleven shopping center is 15-60 min parking, so do not park there unless you want your car to be towed!
