Don't miss this event, we're very lucky to have such wonderful, insightful writers visiting little Llandovery.
Jay Griffith's new book is " How Animals Heal Us "
Pet-owners and animal-lovers instinctively know that animals heal. This book offers the evidence, drawing widely on scientific discoveries, history, and Indigenous knowledge.
"No book has changed my thinking about Nature more quickly and more fundamentally than this moving, essential work. Nobody writes about Nature - the world and us in it - with more beauty and grace than Jay Griffiths. She senses connections so deep and so resonant that they ring on and on in my mind.' - Brian Eno
Gareth Howell-Jones written two books his latest is the brilliant "Your Lowly Hedgehog Knows " which takes a clear, fresh look at the physical world around us and finds it more startling and more heartening than the media would have us believe. It raises many questions and even answers some of them. How can a cat be a portal to the universe? Why did our ancestors make cave paintings? Who is Mr Bun? How do you write a tree? And, above all, what is it that your lowly hedgehog knows?
Like the previous volume Do Not Call the Tortoise, Hedgehog offers a quietly revolutionary new/old world-view with the help of poets, biologists, woodlice, trees, John Lennon, cats (of course), a record-breaking vulture and, most of all, an openness to wonder.
This is a free event but please book a ticket so we know how many people to expect, thanks and look forward to seeing you.
