Danse Macabre! je povabilo v svet onkraj – v ples s smrtjo, ki ne pomeni konca, temveč estetsko, energično in domišljijsko silo – koreografijo odsotnosti in pojavnosti, spektralnih sledi in utripajočih prisotnosti. Izhajajoč iz srednjeveškega koncepta “plesa smrti” – ideje, da je vsako gibanje, božansko ali zemeljsko, ples – predstava uprizarja nezemeljsko prehajanje: mejni prostor med filmom, svetlobo, elektronsko glasbo in živim telesom. Figure se pojavljajo in izginjajo, se podvajajo in lomijo, duhovi gest se ponovno rojevajo v novih koreografskih sestavih. Film, vstavljen kot tretji element scenske konstrukcije, premešča zaznavanje in razpira domišljijo ter ustvarja vizualno posmrtno življenje, naseljeno z notranjimi podobami in prostimi asociacijami. Ne gre za upodabljanje smrti, temveč za priklicevanje gibanja temne snovi – kjer domišljija postane medij, ples pa gibalo nevidnih sil.
Kvartet plesalcev niha med slogi in citati – od pantomim baleta 19. stoletja do Neutanza in voguinga – ter postane posoda za koreografijo, prežeto z znamenji in strašili. Glasovi, sinhronizirani v živo, in vizualna besedila v neoekspresionistični pisavi trkajo in se stapljajo s strašljivo zvočno krajino Alberta Ricce – Bienoisea ter vizualnim jezikom umetnika Roberta Fassoneja. Kar vznikne, je utripajoč, mrgoleč ritual: anatomske razdrobljenosti, prikazni okončin, zombijevske črte in z laserjem prežeta arhitektura, ki prostor ukrivlja v nekaj obenem futurističnega in prvobitnega. Danse Macabre! (2023) je koreografija groze in nežnosti, kjer živi utelešajo mrtve in obratno, izginjanje pa postane pogoj za nove pojavnosti. V prostoru med podobo, zvokom in telesom, med tem, kar gledamo, in tem, kar nas gleda nazaj z zevajočimi usti, se skriva povabilo: na ples z onostranstvom.

Danse Macabre! is an invitation to elsewhere. It dances with death not as an ending but as an aesthetic, energetic and imaginative force – a choreography of absence and appearance, of spectral traces and flickering presences. Drawing on the medieval concept of “the dance of death” – the idea that all movement, divine or earthly, is a dance – this performance stages an
otherworldly crossing: a liminal space between film, light, electronic music and the live body. Figures appear and disappear, double and fracture, ghosts of gestures are reborn in new choreographic arrangements. A film, inserted as the third element of the scenic construction, displaces perception and stretches imagination, creating a visual afterlife populated by internal images and free associations. This is not about depicting death, but conjuring the movements of dark matter – where imagination becomes a medium, and dance a vehicle for unseen forces.
A quartet of dancers oscillates between styles and citations – from 19th century ballet pantomimes to Neutanz and voguing – becoming vessels of a choreography saturated with signs and hauntings. Voices dubbed live and visual texts in Neo-expressionist lettering clash and coalesce with a haunting soundscape by Alberto Ricca – Bienoise, and the visual language of artist Roberto Fassone. What emerges is a pulsing, glitching ritual: anatomical fragmentations, ghost limbs, zombie lines, and laser-charged architecture folding space into something both futuristic and primordial. Danse Macabre! (2023) is a choreography of terror and tenderness, where the living embody the dead and vice versa, and disappearance becomes the condition for new appearances. In the space between image, sound and body, between what we see and what looks back at us with its mouth open, lies the invitation: to dance with the beyond.
