V Moderni galeriji odpiramo kinematografski cikel z naslovom 𝐼𝑧 𝑧̌𝑖𝑣𝑒𝑔𝑎 𝑢𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑝𝑎 𝑑𝑒𝑧̌𝑒𝑙𝑒, ki nas bo popeljal preko vode, mita, rituala in odpora, ki jih tkejo vizije filmskih ustvarjalk z Bližnjega vzhoda. Kustosinja cikla je 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐤𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐜́ (The Mosaic Rooms, London).
Prvi dogodek cikla bo posebna projekcija dveh silovitih filmov, zasidranih v pokrajini, spominu in folklori Palestine: 𝑨 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑾𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝑩𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 (2024) in 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 (2021).
S filmsko ustvarjalko 𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐛𝐞𝐝 se bo po projekciji pogovarjala kustosinja 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐤𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐜́.

Film se osredotoča na pesem Song for The Fighters, ki je bila najdena v zvočnem arhivu Centra za ljudsko umetnost v Palestini. Skozi plasti pesmi, v labirintu zvokov in krajev, film prikliče zgodovino kot stalen sedanjik – kot kolektivno in domišljijsko dejanje. Film je bil posnet na starodavnih prizoriščih v Palestini.

Filmski prizori temeljijo na dokumentiranih palestinskih ljudskih pripovedih, in si prizadeva ustvariti novo estetsko formo za ponovno obuditev spečih zgodb, povezanih z vodnjaki in skupnostnimi rituali žalovanja.
𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐛𝐞𝐝 je palestinska umetnica, ki deluje na presečišču performansa in filma ter "insceniranega" in "dokumentarnega". Njena praksa raziskuje pojme družbenih koreografij in kolektivnih formacij ter preučuje povezavo med pojmom "sinhronije" in družbenim delovanjem.

In Moderna galerija we will shortly begin with a cinematic series entitled 𝐹𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐿𝑎𝑛𝑑'𝑠 𝐿𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑃𝑢𝑙𝑠𝑒 journeying through water, myth, ritual, and resistance—woven by the visions of women filmmakers from the Middle East. The series is curated by 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐤𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐜́ (The Mosaic Rooms, London).
Join us for our first event of the series, a special screening of two powerful films rooted in the landscape, memory, and folklore of Palestine: 𝑨 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑾𝒆 𝑯𝒆𝒍𝒅 𝑩𝒆𝒕𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒏 (2024) and 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 (2021).
Following the screening, artist and filmmaker 𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐛𝐞𝐝 will be in conversation with curator 𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐑𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐤𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐜́.

The film centers around “Song for The Fighters,” which was found at the sonic archive of the Popular Art Center Palestine. Through the layers of the song, in a labyrinth of sounds and sites, the film conjures history as a permanent present tense, a collective and imaginative act. The film was shot in ancient sites in Palestine.
🎥 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆
Choreographed scenes based on documented folktales from Palestine, the film aims to create a new aesthetic form to re-awaken latent stories based around water wells and their connection to communal rituals around notions of disappearance, mourning, and death.
𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐛𝐞𝐝 is a Palestinian artist who works at the intersection of performance and film, combining forms of the ‘staged’ and the ‘documentary’. Her practice examines notions of social choreographies and collective formations, searching through the connection between the notion of ‘synchrony’ and social action.
The series is part of Moderna galerija’s new program Models of Coexistence.
