Ready to dip your toes into the world of fly fishing? Join us for Ripple Outside’s Level 1 Fly Fishing Clinic—a relaxed, confidence-building weekend designed to get you river-ready.
We’ll be guided by Chloe Nostrant, Livingston’s own professional fly fishing guide and all-around badass on the water. She’ll walk us through Gear 101, how to navigate your local fly shop, and help you build solid skills with hands-on casting instruction and personalized coaching.
Day 1 will be at George Anderson's Yellowstone Angler where we will get to know each other, have a private tour of the fly shop, and get to know your gear. Saturday takes place at The Cabin on the Yellowstone, a rustic lodge that gives us private river access to the Yellowstone River. Saturday morning is all about the basics - knot tying, entomology, gear and flies. We’ll fuel up with lunch, have casting practice and then head to the Yellowstone River to put those new skills to work (weather and river conditions permitting).
Don’t have gear? No problem. We’ve teamed up with George Anderson’s Yellowstone Angler for free rentals. All you need is a Montana fishing license + conservation stamp, which you can grab online or pick up at the shop during class.
What to bring:
This is a beginner-friendly, women-led class—and whether you're brand new or just looking to brush up your skills, we’ve got you covered.

Meet your instructor
Chloe Nostrant grew up in Bozeman and started fly fishing when she was a junior in high school. What started as a fun pastime quickly grew into a lifestyle, then career. She has been with George Anderson's Yellowstone for six years, working her way up from summer help to year-round staff. Chloe enjoys chasing cutthroat in Yellowstone National Park, sharing the streams with the various wildlife and history that fills the Park. Though she loves fishing for trout in the mountains, she has a soft spot for pursuing muskie in both the US and Canada. When she isn’t fly fishing or working in the shop, she can be found upland hunting with her Gordon Setter, skiing, or working on her next writing piece.
