About Meals on Wheels of Lee's Summit

Founded in 1974 by local residents Lois Elbel and Linda Dempsey, Meals on Wheels of Lee's Summit has grown from serving just fifteen clients to delivering over 350 meals weekly. Their volunteers provide not just nutritious meals, but also crucial wellness checks and friendly visits that combat isolation for homebound seniors and individuals recovering from illness. After nearly five decades, founders Linda and Lois still volunteer with the organization — a testament to their extraordinary commitment to our community.
