Four thirty-minute plays. A group of people face questions about freedom, themselves, and authority. Two women from different classes in 1935 England find a common purpose. Does Beryl deserve to be behind bars? What truth remains when belief and biology collide?
In “StAnd UP, sit down!” by Gareth Rhodes a group of contented people on a rock on a cliff’s edge are challenged by a fellow companion, about their thoughts on freedom, themselves, what is right, all under the gaze of an unseen Authority.
In “At the Harrogate Royal Pump Room” by Neville Judson two women from different classes in 1935 England get into conversation outside the Royal Pump Room. As they converse they find they have more in common than they expect, both with each other and with wider society.
In “Whatever Next?” by Louise Record join Beryl – octogenarian extraordinaire – once again, but this time from behind bars, where she finds herself after being arrested ‘under suspicion of criminal damage.’ Should she be there? You decide.
