Successful candidates will receive a nationally regulated qualification valid for 3 years.

The course will cover:
• The role of the first aider
• Scene Safety
• Incident Procedure – a systematic approach applicable to any first aid incident
• Primary Survey
• Dealing with a casualty who is unresponsive
• Safe Airway (Recovery) Position
• Seizures
• Heart Attack
• Stroke
• CPR and defibrillator/AED use
• Choking
• Bleeding
• Shock
• Minor Injuries (small cuts, splinters, nosebleeds, bruises, minor burns)
• Record Keeping
• Advice on first aid equipment
To meet the additional requirements of Forestry Context (+F) training the course will also cover:
• Considerations for remote and rural settings
• Catastrophic Bleeding
• Use of specialist trauma dressings, haemostatic agents and tourniquets
• Crush Injuries
• Hypothermia
• Lyme Disease
Assessment is by means of continuous practical assessment throughout the course and a short, 10 question multi-choice quiz. We aim to keep the assessment process as stress free as possible.
This course meets the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and follows both the UK and European Resuscitation Councils guidelines. It also meets the requirements of the Forestry England policy (First Aid – PPG 59) for contractors working on Forestry England sites.
