We are pleased to reveal that we will be hosting a full-day event on June 7th at the McGavik Conference Center in Lakewood, WA. The event is open for anyone to attend but is designed to empower Black, Latine, and Tribal families and people who carry a womb through Reproductive Justice.
Unwound the Womb: Reclaiming Birth and Justice Through Healing will serve as a platform for sharing lived experiences, promoting health literacy, and offering culturally-centered services that support families impacted by birth inequities in Washington State.
Event Objectives:
Empower BIPOC Communities: Provide a platform for Black, Latine, and Tribal voices to share their experiences, fostering empowerment and agency.
Enhance Health Literacy: Offer critical information on reproductive health and culturally relevant care to support self-advocacy.
Promote Healing and Wellness: Facilitate access to trauma-informed services, including doula, lactation, and mental health support.
Celebrate Cultural Heritage: Showcase cultural traditions through performances, food, and art, promoting pride and solidarity.
Build Community Connections: Strengthen networks among attendees, providers, and organizations, encouraging lasting support systems.
Increase Access to Resources: Connect participants with local reproductive health services to improve awareness and access.
Strengthen Local Partnerships: Engage local businesses and organizations as partners to ensure sustainability.
Raise Awareness of Reproductive Justice: Educate the public on systemic barriers in maternal health faced by BIPOC communities and advocate for structural change.
