I CAN HEAR MUSIC! SWEET, SWEET MUSIC!
2400 years ago, give or take, Plato suggested that “music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.”
A little more recently, Jimi Hendrix said, “Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.”
Make change! Bring soul to the universe! Join us on June 28 for music and stories to give “flight to your imagination”!
In the style of Bruce Springsteen’s Springsteen On Broadway, three professional Lakewood musicians (who are also Lakewood Rotarians) will tell their stories in words and music in the intimate setting of the Lakewood Playhouse (maximum 150 seats).
1. By day, Philip Lindholm is the CEO of a local real estate and investment brokerage and a podcaster. By night, he is a law student at Seattle University. Before all this, he was a Rhodes Scholar finalist who graduated with three masters and a doctorate from Oxford before forming roots rock band "Whiskey N' Rye," which toured across the West Coast and released two albums.
2. Morris Northcutt is a Global Music Award-winning trumpeter with two acclaimed albums, produced and mastered by Grammy-winning producers and engineers. He has performed across North America, Europe, South America, and Canada, including a recent solo appearance with the Miami Symphony Orchestra. Other career highlights include performances with Mannheim Steamroller, the Seattle Symphony, and 30 years with the Tacoma Concert Band.
3. Chris Kimball has been playing drums for over 60 years (and boy, are his arms tired!). Chris has toured with the likes of Doc Severinsen, Big John Hall, Don Ellis, and more. His style ranges from classical (Tacoma Symphony Orchestra), Jazz (Centralia College Jazz Band, University of WA Jazz Band, Swing Reunion Orchestra), Country (The Yokels), Gospel (Bridge, The Key Singers, His Image), and Rock (Thrust, Emanon, Obsidian, The Edge). By day, he is a financial consultant, and also has three masters and a doctorate.
Saturday, June 28. Time: 6:30, music starts at 7:00. Scotch tasting before with Barlow Buescher providing information and Scotch, while beer, wine, and soft drinks are also included at no additional charge. Other refreshments available for purchase from Joe Walsh and the Lakewood Playhouse. Tickets $50 each.
