The Science of Art Summer Camp 🔬🎨
Where creativity meets discovery! In The Science of Art Summer Camp, young artists will experiment, explore, and create while learning the fascinating connections between art and science. Inspired by our popular Science of Art class, this camp blends hands-on experiments with creative projects to help artists see the world in a whole new way!
Camp Details:
📅 Dates: June 23rd - 27th, 2025
🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Monday – Friday)
🎨 Ages:8-12 years old
🎟 Flexible Enrollment—Choose individual days or sign up for the full week! Each day explores a new scientific concept through art.
🥪 What to Bring: A packed lunch and refillable water bottle
🌞 Outdoor Fun! Weather permitting, lunchtime will include activities like a short walk, or free play in the community garden. Sunblock, hats, or sunglasses are encouraged!
What They’ll Explore:
💎 Monday – The Science of Crystals
Grow their own crystals and observe their structures.
Learn to draw and shade crystallized shapes with chalk pastels.
🎶⚙ Tuesday – Sound Waves & The Physics of Movement
Experiment with visualizing sound waves using vibrations.
Explore pendulum painting and kinetic art to see physics in motion.
🐚 Wednesday – Biomimicry in Art
Discover how nature inspires engineering and design.
Use mixed media to create art based on patterns found in the natural world.
🎨 Thursday – The Chemistry of Color
Explore how pigments are made using natural materials.
Experiment with mixing and layering custom pigments to create unique colors.
☀️🧪 Friday – Cyanotypes & Chemical Reactions in Art
Use sunlight to create cyanotype prints and explore light-sensitive reactions.
Experiment with color-changing and fizzing chemical reactions to create dynamic art.

✅ Drop-off camp: Check-in/out within 5 minutes of start and end times.
✅ Ages: 8-12 years old.
✅ Flexible registration—Pick and choose your favorite days or sign up for the whole week!
✅ What to Bring: A packed lunch, refillable water bottle, and clothes that can handle a little mess! Young artists will take home everything they create, but their biggest takeaway will be a deeper understanding of how science and art combine in amazing ways! 🔬🎨✨
