Drawing for Beginners: Level 2 (Ages 8-12)
Take your young artist’s skills to the next level with our "Drawing for Beginners PT. 2" class! Designed for kids ages 8-12 who have completed PT. 1 or have similar experience, this 7-week class expands on foundational skills while introducing new techniques and creative challenges. Students will refine their observation skills, enhance realism, and explore different artistic styles—all in a fun and supportive environment. Students will continue working with pencil and charcoal while also experimenting with colored pencils, ink, and blending stumps to push their artistic abilities further.
Weekly Topics:
✅ Week 1: Dynamic Composition
– Learn how to arrange objects and subjects for a balanced, engaging drawing using focal points, the rule of thirds, and overlapping techniques.
✅ Week 2: Advanced Shading & Contrast
– Explore shading techniques like stippling, scumbling, and deep contrast blending to create striking depth and realism.
✅ Week 3: Drawing Faces & Expressions
– Study facial proportions and features while practicing how to capture emotion through expressive portrait drawings.
✅ Week 4: Gesture Drawing & Movement
– Develop quick sketching techniques to capture motion, posture, and energy in figures and animals.
✅ Week 5: Drawing from Imagination
– Learn how to create original drawings by combining reference materials and personal creativity, emphasizing storytelling through art.
✅ Week 6: 2-Point Perspective
– Take perspective skills further by learning two-point perspective, essential for drawing buildings, streets, and objects in a realistic space.
✅ Week 7: Mixed Media Experimentation
– Explore combining different drawing tools, such as ink with pencil or colored pencil with charcoal, to create unique textures and effects.
By the end of this course, students will have stronger technical skills, improved confidence, and a personal style that they can continue developing in their artwork.
