With “a wide harmonic palette, a sophisticated rhythmic sensibility and a refined sense of dynamics, along with an urge to swing” (DownBeat Magazine), flutist and composer Lori Bell returns with a trio to perform “Higher Standards,” a program that highlights the music of Chick Corea, Gershwin, Jobim, Rodger’s & Hart and her acclaimed recording ‘Higher Standards’.
This lineup is stellar! San Diego-based Bell is a three-time recipient of the Global Music Award who has released a dozen albums in jazz and classical settings since her 1992 debut.
Mikan Zlatkovich is an American virtuoso jazz pianist who has performed and recorded across Europe, and shared the stage with jazz greats such as Tony Scott, Clifford Jordan, Chet Baker, Ernie Wilkins, Ralph Penland, Red Holloway, Charles McPherson, Louis Hayes, to mention but a few.
Grammy-nominated guitarist/vocalist Ron Satterfield is a long-time Bell collaborator, and prolific member of the San Diego music scene who has worked with the likes of Holly Hofmann, Peter Sprague; his style has been called “distinct, swinging, and classy.”
