My Baby (NL / delta blues, rock, trance, dub, funk, soul) [Subart open air]

MY BABY je nizozemsko-novozeelandski trio, ki ga sestavljajo brat in sestra Cato van Dijck (vokal, bas in kitara) ter Joost van Dijck (bobni), skupaj z na Novi Zelandiji rojenim kitaristom Danielom ‘DaFreez’ Johnstonom. Skupaj so ustvarili prepoznaven zvok, ki ga opisujejo kot delta trance, poganjan z elementi roots in funka. Pot skupine MY BABY je zaznamovana z nenehnim razvojem in neustrašnim eksperimentiranjem. Utemeljeni v surovih, organskih zvokih bluesa in funka, so v svojo glasbo brezhibno vtkali globoke, odmevajoče bas linije novozelandskega duba ter kinetično energijo amsterdamske EDM scene. Kljub sodobnim vplivom pa skupina ostaja zvesta svojim analognim koreninam, ustvarjajoč zvok, ki je hkrati prasten in futurističen, združujoč preteklost in sedanjost v edinstveno, zemeljsko plesno glasbeno izkušnjo.
Od leta 2012 širijo svoj delta-trance rave po vsem svetu in navdušujejo občinstva na priznanih festivalih, kot so Glastonbury (VB), Isle of Wight (VB), Sziget (Madžarska), Fusion (Nemčija), Exit (Srbija), WOMAD (po svetu), Lowlands (Nizozemska) in Pinkpop (Nizozemska).
MY BABY ni le ime skupine. Gre za naslov, ki se nanaša na alegorično figuro, osrednji lik v glasbeni pripovedi skupine. Deloma je fantomska muza, rezultat skupne domišljije članov benda. Pogosto jo opisujejo kot »svobodomiselno in drzno dekle iz 70-ih, ki sanjari o tem, da bi bila plesalka in flapper girl iz 20-ih let prejšnjega stoletja«.

MY BABY is a Dutch/New Zealand trio, made up of siblings Cato van Dijck (vocals, bass, and guitar) and Joost van Dijck (drums), along with New Zealand-born guitarist Daniel ‘DaFreez’ Johnston. Together, they’ve crafted a signature sound they describe as roots & funk-driven delta trance. MY BABY’s journey has been marked by constant evolution and fearless experimentation. Grounded in the raw, organic sounds of blues and funk, they’ve seamlessly
woven in the deep, reverberating basslines of New Zealand dub and the kinetic energy of Amsterdam’s EDM scene. Despite these modern influences, the band stays true to their analogue roots, crafting a sound that feels both primal and futuristic, merging the past and present in a unique, earthy dance music experience.
They have been spreading their delta-trance rave to the approval of audiences worldwide since 2012, featuring on renowned festivals such as Glastonbury (UK), Isle of Wight (UK), Sziget (HU), Fusion (DE), Exit (RS), WOMAD (worldwide), Lowlands (NL) and Pinkpop (NL).
MY BABY is more than just the band’s name. It’s a title that refers to an allegorical figure, a central character in the band’s musical story. She is in part a phantom muse, a result of the combined imagination of the band members. She’s often described as, ‘a free-spirited and bold girl in the '70's fantasizing about being a flapper girl and dancer in the '20’s.
