Flint and Steel

Using flint, steel, ferro rods, and other spark driven tools to start a fire is a primary survival skill. Red Osier Guild hosts survival fire teaching and practice every two months.

This is for all levels in a sharing and learning together model. Red Osier has some limited equipment to extend to those who do not have tools - we build to make sure everyone has a chance to learn.

This session is for primarily older youth and adults. We use a knife and people are responsible for their own safety. Red Osier will provide basic knife training, and will also have first aid kits on hand - we haven’t had to use it at Flint and Steel yet!

Please wear clothing that is appropriate - sparks will fly, blades are used. Closed toe shoes are also most appropriate.

This is a free event. Red Osier Guild extends its knowledge and tools as volunteers. We believe in access to knowledge. A pay what you can contribution, or donations are deeply appreciated!
