An Inca Indian and a native of Perú, pianist and composer Hwaen Ch'uqi is a world-renowned soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician. He has performed throughout the United States, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, Russia, Taiwan, Japan, and Perú at such venues as Seiji Ozawa Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory, and Philharmonic Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia. He is a proud product of the Eastman School of Music, and he continues to call Rochester, NY home.
Pamela Liu, violinist, has been in demand as a performer and pedagogue since returning to the Northwest twelve years ago. She received her Bachelors in Violin Performance at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University and was a member of the Evergreen Symphony Orchestra in Taipei, Taiwan, before attending the University of Washington where she received a master's degree in Violin Performance.
Taiwanese-born Ya-Ping Chloe Lo is a versatile musician, recognized for her artistry as a collaborative pianist, composer, arranger, and educator. Recognized for her skill as a chamber musician and collaborative pianist, Ms. Lo has performed with numerous renowned artists worldwide. Her artistry has been featured at respected music festivals, including the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California, where she studied under Jonathan Feldman. Ms. Lo's passion for musical diversity has also led her to participate in the Crescendo Summer Institute in Tokaj, Hungary, the Bowdoin Music Festival in Maine, and the Castleman String Quartet Piano Fellowship Program in Fredonia, NY. This past June, she served as a pianist at the Kendall Betts Horn Camp.
Ms. Lo also enjoys composing, blending Western and Chinese musical styles. Her composition "The Fantasy of Liuqin," premiered at the renowned Taiwan National Concert Hall in 2011, highlights her ability to blend traditional Chinese instruments with other musical elements. Additionally, she wrote her own orchestral reduction of the Violin Concerto by Wynton Marsalis, combining her composition skills with the art of collaborative
piano.
Ms. Lo began her musical education in Taiwan at age 5 with her mother. She earned a M.A. in Collaborative Piano from the National Taiwan Normal University and Performance Diploma at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, studying under Anne Epperson and Kevin Murphy. She later completed her doctoral degree in Collaborative Piano at The University of Texas at Austin with Colette Valentine, Patti Wolf, and Rick Rowley.
Ms. Lo is currently on the faculty at the University of Oklahoma School of Music as a Postdoctoral Collaborative Pianist Research Fellow.
