Join us for PHSSA's first ever orientation boat cruise in partnership with DBMS! Organized with the help of Kingston 1000 Island Cruises, their vessel, the Island Queen, will take you for a two hour tour on the water as the sun goes down, creating the perfect aesthetic for your social media stories. Enjoy dancing, a cash bar and non-alcoholic beverages, snacks like popcorn and chips, as well as freshly made hors d'oeuvres while you take in all the views.
Boarding begins at 6:00 PM where you will be signed in before boarding the vessel. Please be aware that you cannot purchase a ticket at the gate, and that the vessel will be leaving promptly at 6:30 PM.
Please provide your Queen's email address when registering.
Please note that all participants must register individually. Students who attempt to register multiple spots at once will not be considered registered for the event. Only one ticket can be selected per order.
Early bird tickets are $45, and regular tickets are $50. Please e-transfer the PHSSA bank account at cGhzc2EgfCBxdWVlbnN1ICEgY2E= immediately after registering. You will not be considered registered for the event until you have paid your ticket fee. Ticket sales will close on Sept. 1 at 11:59 PM.
Please see the following FAQs:
Can I buy a ticket at the door? No, you cannot buy a ticket at the door. This is to ensure that all guests have signed the waiver embedded in the ticket purchasing process. Before boarding you will be signed in at the check-in desk located on the dock in front of the Island Queen. Anyone attempting to board without checking in will not be permitted onto the vessel.
Where do I go when I arrive? The dock’s address is 1 Brock St, formally called Crawford Wharf. You will see a marina and a small park. Please proceed down the small hill where you will see 1) on your left, a patio bar and 2) on your right, up to three larger vessels docked. Locate the Island Queen – its name is stickered onto the front of the boat. You will see our check-in desk in front of the vessel. Student volunteers will also be posted at the dock’s entrance to help guide you.
Is there somewhere to park if I choose to drive to the docks? Please see the following parking options:
What time should I arrive at the dock/boat? Boarding is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM, so please aim to arrive a few minutes before this with your ticket ready. This will ensure a smooth boarding process so that we can set sail right at 6:30 PM.
What is the duration of the cruise? The cruise is scheduled to run for 2 hours, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Boarding begins at 6:00 PM and the boat will depart promptly at 6:30 PM. Please arrive early to avoid missing the departure.
What if I am late? Will the boat wait for me? The Island Queen is scheduled to be on the water from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. If we leave later than 6:30, we must still be back on land at 8:30. With that in mind, we cannot hold the boat if guests are running late.
Is there A/C on board? There is no A/C on board. However, the enclosed decks (i.e., the first two floors) have windows that will be opened to allow fresh air while we are on the water. This helps keep the boat cool even on the hottest summer days. There is also an open rooftop deck with great views – a perfect spot to cool off and enjoy the breeze!
Is there an accessible bathroom on board? Yes! The vessel’s bathrooms are located on the first floor, and there is a wheelchair ramp available for boarding and accessing the main floor of the vessel.
Will there be drinks available on board? Yes! The vessel’s main floor has a canteen that will be set up to serve both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, with soft drinks priced at $3.50 + HST. The vessel’s second floor has a full-service bar. Cash or card will be accepted. Please bring valid government ID.
Will there be food options available on board? Yes! Island Queen staff will make their way through all three of the boat’s levels throughout the evening with complementary hors d’oeuvres, enough for 3 pieces per guest before extras. Please ensure that you indicate any dietary restrictions when registering for the event so that staff are aware of your needs when preparing food. The canteen on the first floor will also have additional snacks for purchase at the following prices (not including HST):
