About the event

On-Farm Milling at Fat Chance Farmstead
August 20, 2025 @ 1:30 pm – 4:00 pm, Kingston (Eastern Ontario)

Join us for an afternoon at Fat Chance Farmstead to explore the ins and outs of small-scale on-farm grain growing and milling.

Farmer Josh Suppan will guide us through his journey — from planting rye and Red Fife wheat, to harvesting with a 1950s combine, to milling fresh flour with a mill from Austria. Learn how this system supplies bakeries, households, and grocery stores across Eastern Ontario.

You’ll also hear about EFAO’s Small Grains Program and how it might support your grain-growing interests and curiosities. EFAO’s Small Grains Program offers funding and support to help farmers integrate small grains into diverse farming systems.
