🌊 40th Anniversary Dive – Wolfe Islander II Wreck
Join us on Sunday, September 21st, 2025, as we mark the 40th anniversary of the scuttling of the Wolfe Islander II, one of the iconic shipwrecks of the Kingston area and a local diving favourite.
Originally built in 1946 and launched as the Ottawa Maybrook, the Wolfe Islander II served as a side-loading ferry between Kingston and Wolfe Island for nearly 30 years. After being replaced in 1975 and kept on standby, she was deliberately sunk on September 21st, 1985, to create an artificial reef and recreational dive site.
Today, she rests proudly in 80 feet of water near Dawson’s Point, upright and intact, a must-see wreck for both new and seasoned divers.
We’ll be honouring the history and legacy of this wreck with an afternoon of community diving and shared stories.
Event Details:
📍 Location: POH Harbour and Wolfe Islander II wreck site
🕛 Time: 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM
🚤 Logistics:
- The Dorothy J will be stationed at the stern mooring line and serve as a dive platform
- The first group of divers will depart from DJ around noon
- The Wreckreation will ferry groups of 6 divers at a time, back and forth throughout the afternoon
- Price: $40 + tax per person per dive (rental gear not included)
