BACK FOR 2025!! Repeat Pattern Block Printing with Aidan Liggins!
In this full day workshop you will learn the skills to create technical repeating designs to produce a seamless repeating pattern (which could be used for pattern matching fabric or wallpapers). Each person will design and carve their design onto printing block and learn the skills of how to print their fabric to take away with them.
What we will cover:
A brief history of the fascinating world of block printing
Drawing and designing for block printing
How to turn your design into a seamless repeating pattern
Learning how to transfer your design onto a block and how to carve your design into your lino block
Printing your fabric - techniques for printing and alignment of your printing block to print your final design onto fabric
You will come away with your handprinted fabric and your custom printing block, ready to continue printing at home.
Please bring with you some ideas and inspiration for your design. This could be images or objects or anything you'd like to start from. Equally there will be inspiration provided to get your creative juices flowing should you need.
Please note there is a £7.50 material cost payable to the tutor on the day.
Included in the cost of your workshop is Lunch, afternoon cake and tea and coffee throughout the day.
