Join the talented Cumbria-based ceramicist Cath Ball for an introduction to the old technique of Pinch Pots.
Connect with your creative side using only your hands as your tools for making in this workshop. You will make a small bowl/vessel and gain understanding of the consistancy of the clay and how to control it and shape it.
If you’ve ever been put off trying ceramics by the need to master a pottery wheel, fear not. This is a relaxed workshop is just for you.
The workshop is aimed at complete beginners, but more experienced potters wanting to try a new technique are welcome too and will enjoy learning something new.
You will use a white Stoneware clay to manipulate the clay. You will make 3 pinch pots in total, the first one without using your eyes making you concentrate on your sense of touch. You will select your best and most cherished pot to then be glazed and fired back in Cath's Studio. It will be robust and water-tight and ready to pick up at later date from the makers mill.
Please note there is a £20 material cost payable to the tutor on the day. This covers the cost of firing and glazing your pot following the workshop.
