Helvellyn via Striding Edge

There are many fine ways to climb Helvellyn but an ascent via Striding Edge has to be considered the most spectacular of all. This is a classic grade 1 scramble which will require four points of contact on parts of the ridge. We will also be descending via Swirral edge, which is another grade 1 scramble.

It should take us approximately 5-6 hours to complete, depending on the groups pace. The total distance is approximately 8 miles with close to 3,000ft of ascent. The ascent along Striding Edge is thrilling, with exhilarating sections that will get your heart racing. But don't worry; our guides are there to support you through the more challenging parts, making it a manageable adventure for hikers of varying experience levels.

Helvellyn via Striding edge is a mountain route with a mix of rocky terrain, grassy paths and steep ascents/descents - There are also two grade 1 ridges to scramble which do require a head for heights. You should be comfortable walking up to 10 miles and have a reasonably good fitness level. If you have any medical conditions, please let me know beforehand
