The 4-H Wagon Train has been trekking every summer since 1982! Join us for a tune up June 6-8 and our annual summer trek July 13-19.
*The Tune-Up will be hosted at the Oregon Outdoor Education Center. The Trek will traverse parts of the Oregon Trail starting at our meeting point in central Oregon*
Step back in time and experience the Oregon Trail!
The 4-H Wagon Train Trek is a week-long outdoor adventure where youth and volunteers travel the historic Old Santiam Wagon Road. This is not a reenactment—it’s a hands-on Positive Youth Development program designed to build teamwork, resilience, and leadership.
🏕️ What to Expect:
Travel through beautiful Oregon landscapes on foot and by wagon
Learn outdoor skills, team-building, and campfire cooking
Build lifelong friendships in a multigenerational setting
Explore history through guest speakers and cultural discussions
👧👦 Who can join?
Youth of all experience levels, ages 9-99! No previous camping experience required. If you’re nervous, attend a Tune-Up Weekend to get comfortable before the trek.
🙌 Interested in volunteering?
We welcome volunteers from any county or state! The best volunteers are flexible, enjoy the outdoors, and love mentoring kids.
