The Little Lost Bookshop & Rochford Street Review Present The Katoomba Winter Poetry Readings. The August reading, on Thursday 21st July at 6.30pm, will feature Brenda Saunders and Louise Wakeling along with an open mic.
Brenda is a Wiradjuri writer and performer. She has been a frequent Resident Fellow at Varuna Writers House and now lives in Katoomba. Her poetry and short fiction appear in edited collections and anthologies, including Westerly, Live Encounters, Spineless Wonders, Best Australian Prose Poems 2021 and Best of Australian Poems 2022. She has performed her memoirs and prose poems in several Sonic Sydney events and won International Awards for her Short Films: Best Script Prize (London Independent Short Films 2022) and the New York Arthouse Film Fest Award in 2023.
Louise Wakeling lives on Dharug and Gundungurra country. She has been widely published in anthologies including The Best Australian Poems, Antipodes, Contemporary Poetry, The Best Australian Science Writing, and more recently Moments, (The Vice-Chancellor’s International Poetry Prize), (2024) as well as in journals such as Cordite and Meniscus. Her fourth collection of poetry, Off Limits, was published by Puncher & Wattmann in 2021. Her current work-in-progress explores our interactions with nature and each other on a planet that is increasingly in peril. .
