Our classical music tradition has evolved as a bouquet of various cultural influences reflective of the social dynamics of the history of this region. This long process of integration has made it one of the most complex systems of music in the world. The fact that its value is unrecognized by its own custodians is nothing short of tragic.
Music Conference Karachi takes on the onus to correct this unbalance by providing opportunities for exposure to traditional music and dance for cultural enthusiasts through its regular events and also the creation of resource material which is made publicly available. Since 2018, it has also been engaging with young people to raise appreciation and awareness for our indigenous music and dance forms through our youth initiative, Murki.
It now proposes to launch an initiative for mature audiences to increase awareness and appreciation of our rich music and dance inheritance.
