Good Evening Ladies and Gentlemen and welcome from THE BLUES MASTERS. Well here it is 2025, forty years past 1985, and, you know, so much of the music you hear today is pre-programmed computer AI generated electronic crap, you rarely get a chance to hear Master Blues Men practicing their craft anymore. By the year 2026 the music known today as The Blues may exist only in the classical records digital archives of the few public libraries that may be still around then, if we're lucky.
But tonight, ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to publicly announce and introduce to Kansas City for the first time ever, the debut performance of A BRAND NEW BLUES BAND, in the tradition of the great rhythm and blues and soul artists, such as Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, James Brown, Booker T. and the MG's, and last but not least, from Rock Island Illinois, the Blues Men of Joilet, Jake and Elwood Blues, THE BLUES BROTHERS.
This NEW BLUES BAND is comprised of some of the best musicians Kansas City has to offer, including Steve Malloy on trumpet, Fred Zimmerman on trombone, Bryan Wood on saxophone, Ben Eisiminger on Keys, Gavin Mac on bass/vocals (all formerly of The Atlantic Express as well as other prominent bands), Cole Gurley on Bari sax (also of The MGDs), Scott Christensen on guitar/vocals, Dennis Marx on drums/vocals, and Russ Dameron guitar/harmonica/vocals (the latter three also of The TrueTones). Together they are Elwood and THE BLUES MASTERS.
We do sincerely hope you all come out and enjoy the show, and please remember people, that no matter who you are and what you do to live, thrive and survive, there are still some things that make us all the same. You, me, them, everybody. Everybody.
Everybody needs somebody. And we need you. We can't do this alone. We only got a half a pack of cigarettes. A half a tank of gas. It's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses. But we're on a mission from God. Hit it!
