Parks and Recreation is delighted to announce the launch of an exciting new outdoor program called Nature Journaling with Parks! This vibrant initiative is crafted to deepen our connection with the enchanting natural world surrounding us. Participants will embark on a captivating journey of discovery, utilizing their senses—sight, sound, smell, and touch—to explore and immortalize the splendor of nature in their journals through the art of writing and drawing.
Nature Journaling offers a refreshing pause to hit the reset button on our minds and spirits in a world that often speeds by. It urges us to take a moment to breathe deeply, look around, and fully immerse ourselves in the beauty of the great outdoors. By carefully examining the delicate details of even the simplest wildflower, we can uncover its breathtaking colors and intricate patterns—elements that frequently escape our notice amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. Additionally, by listening to the chorus of bird songs and observing their fascinating body language, we can gain insights into the rich tapestry of life that connects all living beings. This practice invites exploration and fosters a profound appreciation for the wonders and complexities of our environment.
Each gathering will unfold in a different county park, occurring twice a month, ensuring a unique opportunity to experience the rich diversity of flora and fauna in various settings. One week, we might meander through a vibrant spring landscape bursting with colorful blossoms and animated wildlife, while the following session might transport us into a tranquil forest where grand trees stand tall and the gentle rustle of leaves creates a soothing atmosphere.
Nature Journaling Educator and Parks and Recreation Program Specialist Alice Mary Herden warmly invites adults to participate in this creative adventure. Participants should arrive prepared to engage fully, explore their surroundings, and express their thoughts and feelings in a serene setting that celebrates the breathtaking wonders of nature!
Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather and bring any personal items you may need. All necessary Nature Journaling supplies will be provided. Registration and a modest $10 activity fee are required to ensure your spot in this enriching experience.
