Did you know the Invercargill Public Art Gallery team runs He Waka Tuia? If you love what we do and want to get more involved, join us for our Annual General Meeting at 7pm on Thursday, August 14 at He Waka Tuia, 42 Kelvin Street.
This year’s AGM is an important one. As you may know, the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 has come into effect, replacing the 1908 legislation. To re-register under the new Act by April 2026, we need to adopt an updated constitution that meets the new legal requirements.
Key changes include:
Clearer governance obligations for officers
A requirement for dispute resolution processes
More structured rules around financial reporting and membership
We’ve prepared a draft constitution (see link below) for members to review. It will be discussed and voted on at the AGM, so please take the time to read it. We welcome any questions or feedback in advance.
The AGM is also a great chance to learn more about how we operate, meet our staff and board, and show your support. If you’re thinking about joining the board, make sure you're a current paid member for 2024/2025 and that you’re nominated by another member. Board nomination forms must be submitted by Tuesday, August 12.
You’ll find the membership renewal form, nomination form, Annual Report, Agenda, 2024 Minutes, and soon the Annual Accounts at the link below.
We’re also excited to welcome Rex Capil, Group Manager – ICC Community Spaces and Places, as this year’s guest speaker!
Come on down, connect with our team, and be part of shaping IPAG’s future. We’d love to see you there!
