The Scenario: “THE GAP” as it is typically referred to, is the distance between the print head and the part being printed. Often times, that space needs to be rather tight to ensure proper print quality. If that gap is too high, ink drops will fragment or break before hitting the surface of the product, leading to poor print quality or harm to printer components.

Why is it important? The inability to jet ink drops from a higher print head height can limit the shapes, contours, or overall print size that operators can appropriately decorate. For example, the bottom of 30oz tumblers, drinkware with indentions, or around the shoulder of a stemless wine glass.
