About the event

Prairie Walks and Talks
Buchanan County has many unique remnant prairies spread throughout its park system. These range from dry sand prairies to water saturated fens. Join Conservation Director, Ben Bonar, in exploring these sites and learn how to identify prairie plants along the way! The summer prairie walk will take place at Crumbacher Wildlife Area. Participants can expect to see numerous prairie plants in bloom during this walk including Winged Loosestrife, Pale Spiked Lobelia and Showy Tick Trefoil. A short presentation will also be provided on the construction of a new 4-acre wetland on the property. This program is the second of a three-part series with the final walk taking place at Rowley Fen this fall.
