From director Matthew Warchus comes a historical comedy-drama based on a true story. During the 1984 UK miners’ strike, a group of lesbian and gay activists led by Mark Ashton (Ben Schnetzer) decides to raise money to support the miners’ families. Despite initial resistance, they form an unlikely alliance with a small Welsh mining village. There, they meet Cliff (Bill Nighy), a reserved and thoughtful miner, Hefina (Imelda Staunton), a spirited and supportive community leader, and Jonathan (Dominic West), a charismatic activist. Also starring Andrew Scott, George MacKay, Paddy Considine, & Jessica Gunning. (UK, USA, France, 2014, 119 mins, R, English & Welsh | Dir. Matthew Warchus)
A portion of ticket sales will go to benefit Long Island Cares & The Trevor Project! We will also be collecting nonperishable food items that will be donated to LI Cares.
