(we agree to dance this way)
SUBSTANCE FREE
(allow just dancing to be your consciousness-altering guide)
JUDGMENT FREE
(let go of judging dancers, including yourself)
SHOES/JEWELRY FREE
we dance barefoot (socks are cool) to connect with our entire body. we remove any jewelry or items that could cause accidental injury to dancers (including yourself)
DEVICE FREE
(store devices away and be completely immersed in dance)
VERBAL FREE
(let your mind & tongue rest, use your body to communicate, unless its a safety issue or concern, then use brief phrases and return to non verbal space. animal noises, laughs, cries are welcomed though. if conversations must happen, take them off the dance space please)
DANCING PARTNER CONSENT
obtain dance consent by giving AND receiving eye contact from another. Once that has been established negotiate dancing together - mimicking movements, hands touching, contact improv, step dances etc.
Two "handy" gestures:
1) hands with palms up for accepting a dance
2)palms together in front (prayer hands, namaste) for declining a dance
