Kickstand Comedy is Portland's home for local comedy. They provide mission-based programming and educational outreach that helps community connect, learn, and laugh together. They run the #1 comedy training center in the Pacific Northwest featuring improv, stand up, sketch, and physical comedy classes and more. Their mission is to transform and enrich the lives of performers and audience through comedy.
Local authors include Jennifer (JP) Perrine and Amelia Diaz Ettinger.
Perrine is the author of five books of poetry. A two-time winner of Arts and Culture Diversity and Inclusion Awards from the Asian-American Journalists Association, Perrine lives in Portland, where they cohost the Incite: Queer Writers Read series and works as the equity and racial and justice program manager for Metro Parks and Nature.
Ettinger is a BIPOC poet and writer who currently calls Eastern Oregon home, residing in the serene and secluded Blue Mountains region. With a deep connection to her indigenous roots and Hispanic heritage, Ettinger's work often explores themes of identity, heritage, family, and culture through the lens of her personal experiences.
