2004, South Boston, the Red Sox are on their way to the series. One of their greatest fans, Peggy Sullivan (RoseMarie Frankly) is at odds with her daughter Susan (Emily Pinter) over Peggy’s decision to discontinue her cancer treatments and medications. Their situation comes to a head when Susan brings in a Polish health care aid, Karolina (Kristie Lee) to look after Peggy. Supported by an upstairs border, Marie (Patty Champon) and Parish Priest, Father Pete (Frank Van Syckel) Peggy faces the dilemma of faith, family and the possibility of the Red Sox winning the series. After an adventurous evening out on the town, Peggy is introduced to Susan’s partner, Joyce (Nina Rangel) a Dorchester girl who is a bigger fan than her.
Frank Van Syckel’s original play, “Angels in Boston” a comedy/drama filled with sarcasm, spicy language and plenty of Sam Adams, will be running three weekends at First Avenue Playhouse, 123 First Ave., Atlantic Highlands.
