About the exhibition.
This thought-provoking exhibition displays 12 artworks depicting thoughts about evolution and all the things it involves: birth, transformation, life, family, and transmission. The paintings are mostly abstract, colourful, full of curves, spirals, dots and hidden details.
The artist previously had her work displayed in the University of Helsinki‘s incubator space during spring 2025, and this is her first exhibition of 12 pieces created between 2023 and 2025. Each one is a journey in itself, for the viewer to wander in feelings, emotions and colours: winter feeling, entering spring, family tree inspiration, flow and curves, hidden feelings, geometry and illusion, building legacy… lose yourself in the contemplation while you observe your own feelings, thoughts and inspirations.
About the artist.
Emilie Ressouche is a French chemist living in Finland since 2017. She has always been drawn to arts and crafts, and has been a member of Finnbrit since 2022, first through the Knitting Club, and has also facilitated henna tattoo workshops at Finnbrit. She has been inspired by the spirals and curves from henna designs and started painting in 2023. First, she tested soft pastels, then quickly turned towards watercolour. Her noticeable style is inspired by nature, with an abstract twist, lots of curves and bright colours. She likes to study how colours mix or flow together, how to paint flow, and adorns her curves with dots and spheres. All artworks convey different emotions, sometimes left cryptic for the visitor to decipher and feel. Concrete details are occasionally included in the works, like details in a dream, to enhance the journey you take while looking at them.
The exhibition is on show at Finnbrit, Monday to Wednesday 9:00–15:00, from 25.8.2025 until 30.9.2025
