MESTRA TEREZA

Mestra Tereza began training capoeira angola in the 1980s in the Grupo de Capoeira Angola Pelourinho (GCAP) in Rio de Janeiro, with Mestre Braga. In 1990, she began training with Mestre Angolinha, becoming his first female student. A disciple of Mestre Angolinha for over 30 years, she participated in the founding of the Grupo de Capoeira Angolinha (GCANG), and was recognized as a Contramestra in 2018 and a Mestra in 2022. Currently, she shares with other GCANG graduates the responsibility of carrying on Mestre Angolinha’s work at Sobrado Amarelo da Lapa, in downtown Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
