Aki Rissanen Trio on yksi maamme menestyneimmistä jazzyhtyeistä. Brittiläisen Edition Recordsin julkaisemat neljä levyä (Amorandom, 2016; Another North, 2017; Art In Motion, 2019 ja Trio Live, 2022) ovat olleet vahva voimannäyte yhtyeen kyvyistä ja tuoneet pianisti Aki Rissaselle kansainvälisen läpimurron. Debyyttilevy Amorandom voitti parhaan jazzlevyn Emma-palkinnon vuonna 2017, ja Art In Motion valittiin Helsingin Sanomien kahden parhaan jazzlevyn joukkoon ja sai Editor’s Pick maininnan Yhdysvaltojen merkittävimmässä jazzlehdessä Downbeatissa vuonna 2019.
Nyt uuden levyn myötä ja kolmen vuoden tauon jälkeen keikoille palaa entistä vahvemmin yhteenhitsautunut trio, jonka soittoa on kuvailtu omaleimaisen erottuvaksi ja kunnianhimoiseksi. Rissasen oma tuntemus vahvistaa arviot: “Uuden materiaalin harjoittelu on osoittanut, että soundimme erottuu entistä enemmän muista yhtyeistä. Vaikka trio kantaakin nimeäni, Antin ja Tepon panos soundiin on ollut merkittävä. On mahtava huomata, että bändillä on aina jotakin uutta sanottavaa.”
Trion uusin levy Imaginary Mountains julkaistaan kesäkuussa 2025.

Aki Rissanen Trio is one of the most successful jazz bands in our country. The four albums released by the British Edition Records (Amorandom, 2016; Another North, 2017; Art In Motion, 2019 and Trio Live, 2022) have been a strong demonstration of the band's talents and brought pianist Aki Rissanen an international breakthrough. The debut album Amorandom won the Emma Award for best jazz album in 2017, and Art In Motion was selected as one of the two best jazz albums by Helsingin Sanomat and received an Editor's Pick mention in the most important jazz magazine in the United States, Downbeat, in 2019.
Now, with the new album and after a three-year break, the trio returns to the gigs, even more tightly knit, and its playing has been described as distinctive and ambitious. Rissanen's own experience confirms the assessment: “Practicing the new material has shown that our sound is increasingly different from other bands. Even though the trio bears my name, Antti and Tepo's contribution to the sound has been significant. It's great to see that the band always has something new to say.”
The trio's latest album, Imaginary Mountains, will be released in June 2025.
