The first UK accredited course on using Scentwork for your horse or pony.
Come learn how brilliant your equine is at smelling, learning the biology of their olfactory system, and the first steps in using that to create fun environments and situations which engage your equine. Learn about how scent travels across the fields and in the arena, and how to use that.
This course is aimed at non-ridden handling, and can be done at liberty.
Most of the course costs are paid directly to Veterans in Communities, who provide us with an expert sniffer dog trainer to help coach you in the first principles of Search and Rescue, even if it's only a lost glove or sock!
Learning will be a combination of theory, practical and demonstration of horses at various stages of learning. No prior learning is required. We will touch on the benefits to the horse, and the changes needed in the human-handler dynamic.
This is suitable for all equines, including the elderly, retired, ridden, small, large.... and the ideas will be applicable if you have an arena, car park, paddock or section of field. You will leave with resources to get started straight away, including the scents, and additional resources are very cheap (pennies) using our system.
We will provide you with a eventbrite link to pay your deposit, but you will then pay the remainder direct to Veterans in Communities, making it toally transparent for how much of your course costs are going to charity.
This course is about fun. Fun for you, and for your equine.
Deposit by Eventbrite is £30.
The remainder of the course cost £120 is paid to Veterans in Communities.
This course is UK Rural Skills accredited, ensuring you of quality and rigor in the content, objectives and assessment.
