Plastic is widely used, not only at home but also on the farm
Families will do a plastic audit at home and bring their results to the session (audit resources will be provided in advance)
We will look at identifying different types of plastic by their properties, and from the (hard to find) labels on containers
We will find plastic in use on the farm, and learn about how we here reduce, reuse and recycle, including where our waste plastic goes and how it is recycled.
We will dip briefly into how plastic is made, polymer chains, and why it is a long lasting problem.
Finally, we will consider all the ways we can switch to non-plastic alternatives.
