Is your dog fast? Does your dog love to run?
Come try this fun and exciting introduction to the fastest growing Dog Sport in the world -- timed dash runs on a short track. Your dog will chase the lure down a fenced grass track to see how fast your canine pal can run.
We will also be running a "Steeplechase" event, where dogs will chase the lure and jump over break-away jumps (safety first). Every dog gets a ribbon for finishing. Every handler gets the joy of watching their dog run. If you wanted to try FastCAT or DASH - this is a great chance to introduce your dog to the sport of lure coursing. If your dog LOVES FastCAT and DASH -- Steeplechase adds a new dimension of fun. Our lure operators are licensed and trained to ensure safety for dogs and handlers. Course is fully fenced.
Because Steeplechase jumps are varied in height to match the needs of your dog, we will be running dogs in height order. Heights are from the withers (the front shoulder to the ground)
Toys -- 10" and under 3 pm - 3:30 pm
Division 1 -- 10.1"- 16 inches -- 3:30 - 4
Division 2 -- 16.1 -20 inches - 4 - 4:30
Division 3 -- 20.1 - 26 inches -- 4:30 - 5
Division 4 -- over 26 inches - 5-5:30
At 5:30 the jumps come down and all dogs can run the DASH course -- a 50 yard straight dash chasing the lure.
Pre registration is HIGHLY recommended to avoid long wait times.
Cost is $10 for one run and $15 for two (two Steeplechase, 2 DASH or on of each)
If your pup has never done a running event, we will do our best to teach them to love the lure.
Dogs must be at least 1 year old to run. For dogs younger than a year, we can do a puppy dash between 5 and 5:30 to teach them the joy of lure coursing.
Come RUN, JUMP and have FUN with your dog at Curtis Park.
