This Tuesday, 17 June 2025, marks the inaugural National Police Legacy Day (NPLD).
At the Hume, we’re calling you to action this first-ever NPLD. Here are five simple ways you can show your support:
1. Come along to our Coffee with a cop Blue Morning Tea or host a morning tea in your home, at work, or your local community centre. Serve blue-iced cakes, biscuits, or the iconic police donut! Download the free NPLD poster from the NSW Police Legacy website, snap a selfie, and tag us and @PoliceLegacy on social media. #NPLD
2. Share Your Michaelmas Daisies
Post a photo with the daisy—the symbol of protection and care. Whether it’s in your garden or drawn by your kids, help us flood social media with this symbol of hope. #NPLD
3. Read Woman’s Day
Grab a copy of Woman’s Day, which features heartfelt stories of police families who have faced tragedy with courage. Share what moved you and help raise awareness. #NPLD
4. Light It Up Blue
Blue lights shining from your home or business show the families of police officers that their sacrifice is honoured. Snap and share your display! #NPLD
5. Wear Something Blue
Throw on a blue shirt, cap, or ribbon. Take a selfie with friends or colleagues and share your proud support. #NPLD
Join us for “Coffee with a Cop” at Belmore Park from 11am–1pm to celebrate this important day—we’d love to see you there!
