High-Altitude Adventure Meets Unstoppable Determination
Join us for an inspiring double feature that showcases the incredible heights humans can reach - both literally and figuratively! Tonight we celebrate the spirit of pushing boundaries with two remarkable films about overcoming challenges and redefining what's possible.
FEATURED FILMS:
"8,000+" - Experience the breathtaking and dangerous world of high-altitude paragliding with French adventurer Antoine Girard. In July 2016, Girard embarked on a solo three-week hike-and-fly expedition through Pakistan's Karakorum mountains, aiming to set a new altitude record in paragliding. After twice failing to climb and paraglide from the 8,051-meter summit of Broad Peak, Girard devised a daring new approach: using upwinds to carry him directly to the summit and beyond. This stunning documentary captures his solitary journey through some of the world's most challenging terrain, where the air is thin, takeoffs and landings are treacherous, and he has only himself to rely on.
"Stumped" - Meet Maureen Beck, a world champion adaptive climber who refuses to be defined by limitations. Born without her lower left arm, Beck crushes 5.12 routes, takes massive whippers, and dominates overhanging boulders - all while maintaining an infectious sense of humor and love for beer. This witty and powerful documentary follows her quest to climb a challenging 5.12 grade route while addressing the patronizing attitudes often directed toward disabled athletes. As Beck puts it: "I don't want to be good for a girl, I don't want to be good for having just one hand, I just want to be good, period."
