Hidden Valley Workshops: Pruning and Espalier Fruit

Learn everything you need to know to grow and prune a wide variety of fruit. After explaining how to build support structures for espaliers and how to choose a rootstock, Bonnie will show you how to plant a fruit tree. She will then explain the basics of pruning fruit trees and the difference between summer and winter pruning. You will learn about many attractive espalier forms to choose from and how to achieve these sometimes complicated shapes. For those looking for a simple, easily maintained form, Bonnie will explain how to grow dwarfing trees as bushes, which are attractive planted around your garden. You will learn how to prune fruit trees into various forms, including how to renovate neglected orchard trees. Throughout the morning , Bonnie will complete her own seasonal pruning tasks, demonstrating how to prunt a wide range of fruit.
