Three hours and 30 minutes at sea. Longer than last year! It's gonna be a party.
Come sail on this historic tall ship the SCHOONER ADVENTURE! A truly big rig, the main sail alone is 2600 sq ft.² and we will raise it with working chantey singing. About 30 of us hauling would be a good number!
Pack a lunch bring your beverage of choice and help us celebrate New England’s maritime heritage while raising money for the 2025 Maritime folk festival!
The Schooner Adventure, built in 1926, is a national historic landmark and one of the last surviving Grand Banks dory fishing schooners. She fished until 1952. A High Liner, she consistently caught more cod, haddock and halibut than any other vessel of her kind.
We will have a separate talk describing in depth how this vessel fished. Prior to the sail, you are strongly encouraged to view the world-renowned film CAPTAINS COURAGEOUS (featuring Spencer Tracy, Lionel Barrymore, John Carradine and Freddie Bartholmew).
